Some radiators or thermostatic heads are equipped with sensors capable of detecting a sudden drop in temperature, which may indicate that a window nearby has been opened.
Important: in this case, the radiator automatically adjusts its operation.
When a window is detected as open, the radiator reduces or temporarily suspends its heating to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
Why is this detection useful?
This system aims to limit heat loss and excessive energy consumption when cold air enters the room.
For example, in winter, if a window has been left slightly open, the radiator will not try to compensate for this sudden temperature drop, which allows:
energy savings,
preservation of the radiator’s proper functioning,
and encourages you to close the window more quickly.
What should I do if an alert appears or if the heating briefly turns off?
Check if a window or door is open in the room.
If it was not intentional, close it.
Once the window is closed and the temperature stabilized, the radiator will automatically resume normal operation.
My radiator indicates "Window open" even though everything is closed: why?
It can happen that the app displays this status even if your windows are properly closed. This false trigger (false positive) is generally explained by the direct environment of the radiator, not by a defect in the device.
The radiator interprets a rapid drop in ambient temperature as a window opening. This can be caused by:
- Intense outdoor cold: In very cold weather (below freezing temperatures), walls near windows cool down quickly, which can mislead the radiator’s sensor.
- A cold draft: Poor insulation or a flow of cold air circulating near the radiator (e.g., entrance, hallway).
- The radiator’s location: If it is installed too close to a door or a poorly insulated area.
How to solve this problem?
If your home is subject to these false alerts (especially in winter), we recommend disabling the automatic detection on the affected device to regain stable heating.
Here is the procedure:
- Open the Enki app.
- Select the tile of your Radiator or Thermostatic Head.
- Go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon (top right).
- Uncheck or disable the option "Window open detection".
Note: Once disabled, remember to manually lower your heating or switch to "Frost Protection" mode when you actually air out the room.
