Tips and recommendations:

Assistant cligne des yeux - Parle.gif "Before proceeding to pair your Wi-Fi device, I recommend carefully reviewing the tips and recommendations below."

  • Your Wi-Fi network must operate strictly on the 2.4 GHz band. To ensure optimal performance, it is advised that the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands be configured under separate SSIDs(1). We invite you to contact your Internet service provider for assistance in verifying the frequencies used by your Wi-Fi network and separating them if necessary.

  • It is recommended to keep only your main Wi-Fi access point activated and to disable all Wi-Fi repeaters during the pairing of your Wi-Fi device.

  • Your Wi-Fi network SSID and password must not include special characters(2). It must consist exclusively of lowercase letters, uppercase letters and numbers.

  • The Wi-Fi security encryption(3) of your internet box must be configured strictly as WPA2 only. WEP and WPA3 protocols are not compatible with your Wi-Fi device. Moreover, WPA and WPA/WPA2 modes pose security risks, which could cause device malfunction.

  • Please ensure that your Wi-Fi device and Internet box are placed as close to each other as possible. If necessary, temporarily bring your Wi-Fi device closer to the Internet box to proceed with pairing.

  • Disconnect all devices that might emit a Wi-Fi network or to which the product could connect, such as Wi-Fi repeaters.

  • If you need to add multiple Wi-Fi devices, it is imperative to power only one device at a time. The others must be unplugged from their power source.

  • To proceed with pairing, please disable mobile/cellular data(4) in your smartphone settings. It is essential not to activate airplane mode, but only to disable mobile/cellular data.

  • It is imperative to verify that your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled and that it is not connected to any device. If your phone is connected via Bluetooth to another device, it is recommended to temporarily disable this connection between your phone and the concerned device.

  • Your smartphone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Wi-Fi device you want to connect during the entire pairing process.

"If you have questions about the technical terms, I am here to answer them:

(1) SSID: This is the name assigned to your Wi-Fi network, visible in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.

(2) Special characters: These are symbols such as "?", "!", "@", "#", etc.

(3) Wi-Fi security encryption: This is a method used to protect the information exchanged between your device and your Internet box.

(4) Mobile/cellular data: This refers to Internet access via 4G or 5G networks."

Assistant - Exclamation.gif

"If your Wi-Fi device does not respond to the Bluetooth connection and you remain stuck on this screen or receive an error message right after, it means it is not receiving the information you entered for your Wi-Fi network.

It is therefore possible that your Wi-Fi device is not in the required state at this moment in the procedure."

Assistant - Réparation.gif

"In case of an anomaly at this stage, it is essential to perform the following checks:

  • Please ensure you are close to the Wi-Fi device you are installing.
  • Please verify that your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled.
  • It is important to check that your phone’s Bluetooth is not already connected to another device.
    • If it is already connected to another device: the existing connection probably prevents the information from being sent correctly to the Wi-Fi device, please disconnect the device already connected via Bluetooth to your phone.
  • Turn off the power to the Wi-Fi device for one minute, then turn it back on.
  • I recommend resetting your Wi-Fi device to factory settings.
  • Unplug the Wi-Fi dongle from the device, then plug it back in.
  • Try using another phone/tablet to exclude the possibility that the issue is due to the device."

Step 3: Finalize the installation of your device.

Assistant cligne des yeux - Parle.gif

"In this section, I will present the procedure to finalize the installation of your Wi-Fi device. Your device will connect and register on the platform, after which you will assign it an identity within your setup to easily recognize it."

13 - Finalize the installation of your device.
11 - (ESDK 2) Installation de l'objet en cours.gif
  • After the display of "We are preparing your installation", the app will show "Installation in progress, please wait, this may take a few minutes". This indicates that your Wi-Fi device has correctly received, via Bluetooth, the information entered on your phone and is now trying to connect to the platform. Please wait while the Wi-Fi device connects to the Wi-Fi access point you specified earlier and registers on our platform. You will then be able to customize it.
  • Please wait until the installation completes (this should take at most two minutes in case of a slow network).

Assistant cligne des yeux - Alerte.gif "If the screen indicating “Installation in progress, please wait, this may take a few minutes” remains stuck, or you get an installation error after this screen, it means your Wi-Fi device is not installing properly and the installation process failed. We invite you to check the prerequisites and recommendations mentioned earlier."

Assistant cligne des yeux - Dépannage.gif

"To facilitate analysis of the anomaly in case of installation failure, please find below some recommendations:

  • It could be a temporary data processing error. We recommend closing the app completely and clearing the cache. (Feel free to consult the article “ How to clear the cache of my Enki app. ” for assistance.) Upon reconnecting your account to your app, a device named “ NO_NAME ” might appear in a room titled “ Device without room ”. If so, your pairing succeeded. You can click on it, then access its settings, rename it as you prefer, and assign it to the desired room. If the device does not appear, please retry the installation.

  • It is essential to verify that your smartphone is connected to the Wi-Fi network the device is trying to connect to.

  • Please verify the distance between the internet box and your Wi-Fi device, as well as the Wi-Fi password and associated security protocol. (To learn how to check your Wi-Fi password, you can consult the article titled: “  How to verify my Wi-Fi password ”.)

  • Please also verify the Wi-Fi frequency used by your network, according to the indications provided in the paragraph: “  Tips and recommendations ”

  • If you have a firewall present in your internet box, it could be the cause; it is advised to temporarily lower its security level if necessary."

14 - To conclude, it is necessary to register your device.
07 - Enregistrement de l'objet.gif
  • Click on "Name".

  • Assign a name to your Wi-Fi device. Each device must have a distinct name to facilitate identification and management.

  • Press the "validate" key on the keyboard to confirm.

  • Select the room to which you want to assign your device. If no room has been created yet, please create one. The room corresponds to the physical location of your device.

  • Scroll the screen if necessary.

  • Click "Next".

  • To finish, click "Finish".

Assistant cligne des yeux - Parle.gif "I strongly recommend naming your Wi-Fi device with a distinctive name to facilitate its identification among your other devices. For example, use a title such as "Name"."

Assistant - Danse de la victoire.gif

"Congratulations, your Wi-Fi device has been successfully connected to your network. You can now use it."

What you should know about your device:

  • Can I restart my Wi-Fi device remotely?
Flèche Enki.png No, it is not possible to restart your Wi-Fi device remotely.
  • My Wi-Fi device’s Bluetooth does not appear in my phone’s Bluetooth device list, is this normal?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, this is completely normal. The Bluetooth of this type of device is configured to be invisible because it is intended for a temporary connection via the app to transmit information. That is why it does not appear in the list of detectable devices.
  • Can I place my Wi-Fi device in a confined space?
Flèche Enki.png No, it is important not to place your Wi-Fi device in a confined space or near an object that emits wireless radio waves (Internet box, TV, microwave, etc.), as this may disrupt communications and make it unstable during use.
  • Can I associate multiple Wi-Fi devices on my account?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, you can associate as many Wi-Fi devices as you want on your account, within the same house or in different houses.
  • Can I connect my Wi-Fi device to a Wi-Fi repeater?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, this is possible. But it is not recommended because Wi-Fi repeaters sometimes have suboptimal connections. Moreover, it is very important that your repeater’s SSID is different from that of the internet box. If the SSID is the same, this can cause recurring and random disconnections because your Wi-Fi device might switch from connection point A (internet box) to connection point B (Repeater), and vice versa.
  • The Enki app asks for access to location services; should I allow it?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, it is very important to enable location services so that the app can correctly detect the networks around you.

iOS - Activer le service de connexion local.gif
    • On my iPhone, should I enable local network access in my iPhone settings?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, local network access settings must be active because this setting allows the phone to communicate via Wi-Fi with another device. Without this setting active, the phone cannot exchange information with the Wi-Fi device when it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
