Recommendations and tips:

Assistant cligne des yeux - Parle.gif "Before starting the pairing of your Enki Connect or Essentiel b Connect box, I suggest you check the recommendations and tips below."

  • Your Wi-Fi network must operate on the 2.4 GHz band. To ensure optimal operation, it is recommended that the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands be separated under different SSIDs(1). Please contact your Internet service provider if you need assistance verifying the frequencies used by your Wi-Fi network and separating them if necessary.

  • It is recommended to leave only your main Wi-Fi access point operational and disable all Wi-Fi repeaters when pairing the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box.

  • Your Wi-Fi network SSID and password must not include special characters(2). It must consist exclusively of lowercase letters, uppercase letters and numbers.

  • The Wi-Fi security encryption(3) of your internet box must be WPA2 only. WEP and WPA3 are not supported by the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box. WPA and WPA/WPA2 pose a security risk, so functionality could be impaired.

  • Please ensure that the Enki Connect / Essentiel b box and the Internet box are located as close to each other as possible. (If necessary, temporarily bring the Enki Connect / Essentiel b box closer to the Internet box to proceed with pairing.)

  • Unplug all devices that may emit a Wi-Fi network or to which the product could connect, such as Wi-Fi repeaters.

  • If you have multiple Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect boxes to add, it is essential to have only one of these boxes powered on at a time. The others must be disconnected from their power supply.

  • During the pairing operations, we ask you to disable mobile/cellular data(4) in your smartphone settings; it is important not to enable airplane mode, but only to disable mobile/cellular data.

Assistant cligne des yeux - Interrogation.gif

"If you have questions about technical terms, I am here to answer them:

(1) SSID: This is the name of your Wi-Fi network visible in your device's Wi-Fi settings.

(2) Special characters: These are characters like "?", "!", "@", "#", etc...

(3) Wi-Fi security encryption: This is a method used to protect the information exchanged between your device and your Internet box.

(4) Mobile/cellular data: This refers to internet access via 4G / 5G"

Before starting the pairing process of your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box, plug it into power, wait about one minute, and please confirm that your device is in factory mode.

  • LAN: Solid
  • WLAN: Solid
  • POWER: Solid
  • Temporary Wi-Fi network: Absent

Connected and synchronized

Assistant cligne des yeux - Alerte.gif "If you remain stuck on the "Installation in progress, please wait, this may take a few minutes" screen, it means your product is not installing and the installation is failing. Check the prerequisites and advice mentioned earlier."

Assistant cligne des yeux - Dépannage.gif

"To help you understand the anomaly if it does not install, here are some tips:

  • Is the temporary network of the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box present?
    • Yes: The Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box failed to connect to your internet box
Flèche Enki.png Check the distance between the internet box and the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box, as well as the Wi-Fi password and its security encryption. (To learn how to check your Wi-Fi password, you can access the article: "How to verify my Wi-Fi password.")
Flèche Enki.png Check the Wi-Fi frequency used by your Wi-Fi network as indicated in the paragraph: "Recommendations and tips"."

    • No: The Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network. But its installation failed, here are the possible causes:
Flèche Enki.png A firewall related to your internet box may be the cause; lower the level temporarily if needed.
Flèche Enki.png The phone failed to find the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box, make sure your Wi-Fi frequencies are separated as indicated in the paragraph: "Recommendations and tips". Also, ensure no Wi-Fi repeater is active during the pairing phase."

17 - To finalize, you must register your device.
  • Click on "Name"

  • Give a name to your Wi-Fi device; each of your devices must have a different name so you can easily identify which device the name belongs to and control.

  • Press the "validate" key on the keyboard to remove it.

  • Click on the room where you want to add your device. If you don't have a room yet, create one. The room is where your device is located.

  • Scroll the screen if needed.

  • Click "Next".

  • Finally, click "Finish"

Assistant cligne des yeux - Parle.gif "I strongly advise you to name your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box by its proper name to easily find it among your devices. That is, call it "Box Enki", "Box Enki Connect", or "Home automation box"."

During the registration of your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box to our platform, it will update and behave as shown opposite:

Box ENKI Connect 2 voyants extrêmes allumés.png
  • LAN: Solid
  • WLAN: Off
  • POWER: Solid
  • Temporary Wi-Fi Network: Absent

Box update in progress.

You just need to wait for the box to update and restart on its own; once the box restarts, it will return to a state with the three lights solidly on.

Assistant cligne des yeux - Alerte.gif "You must not unplug the Enki Connect / Essentiel b box from its power supply while it is updating. Power loss during the update could damage the box, making it non-functional and unable to be reset. Your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box will become unusable."

Assistant - Danse de la victoire.gif

"Congratulations, your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box has been successfully paired with your Wi-Fi network, you can now pair your different devices to it to use them."

What to know about your device:

  • How to determine if you have an Enki Connect box or an Essentiel b Connect box?

Flèche Enki.png You must check the logo on top of the box.

    Logo Enki.png

    Enki Connect

    Logo Boulanger.png

    Essentiel b Connect

  • Are the two Connect boxes similar?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, the Enki Connect box and the Essentiel b Connect box allow you to do the same things.

  • Does the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box have the same capabilities as the Enki V1 box?
Flèche Enki.png No, the Enki V1 box is multi-protocol, unlike the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box which only supports Zigbee products compatible with Enki. Also, the Enki V1 box can host up to 255 devices, whereas the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box can host up to 50 devices.
  • Where are the LAN, WLAN, POWER lights located?
Flèche Enki.png Considering the correct orientation of the logo on the top of the box and that the three lights are located at the top, LAN is on the left, WLAN in the center, and POWER on the right.

  • Can I restart my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box remotely?
Flèche Enki.png No, it is not possible to restart the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box remotely; the only workaround is to plug the Enki box into an independent smart plug such as a Wi-Fi plug, to restart it remotely.

  • What is the button next to the USB-C power port for?
Flèche Enki.png The button next to the power port on the box is a reset button (for resetting), it is not an ON/OFF button, so it is not recommended to press it unless you want to reset the box and your ecosystem.

  • Are all Enki-compatible products compatible with my Enki Connect / Essentiel b box?
Flèche Enki.png Not all Enki-compatible products are compatible with the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box. The Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box is only compatible with products using the Zigbee protocol. Please consult the product sheets in our FAQ under the section: "Enki compatible devices" to know the compatibility of various devices.

  • I have Zigbee devices, but the device and/or brand is not in the app; can I add them to my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box?
Flèche Enki.png Devices or brands not referenced in the app, even if they are Zigbee, will not be compatible with the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box.

  • I see the temporary Aj_Enki network of my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box in the available Wi-Fi networks on my phone’s Wi-Fi settings, what does this mean?
Flèche Enki.png If the temporary Aj_Enki network is visible, it means your Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box is not connected to your personal Wi-Fi network; it is therefore available for pairing or reconnection if it is already associated with your account.

  • Can I hide my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box under furniture to avoid seeing it?
Flèche Enki.png No, this is not recommended. It is important to place the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box on a surface with free space around and at least 1 meter high so it can communicate well with the various devices.

  • Can I put my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box inside furniture to hide it?
Flèche Enki.png It is also important not to place the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box in a confined space or near an object that emits wireless radio waves (Internet box, TV, microwave, etc.).

  • Can I create a backup of my entire ecosystem in the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box in case of deletion or replacement to restore everything?
Flèche Enki.png In the case of deletion, reset, or replacement of the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box, it is not possible to restore the ecosystem via a backup. No backup of the ecosystem is stored in the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box. You must start from scratch and re-associate your devices one by one.

  • Can I turn off the lights or reduce the brightness of the lights on the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box?
Flèche Enki.png No, the lights indicate the current state of the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box and must remain on. The brightness of the lights has already been reduced by our teams via an update of the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box; it is not possible to reduce it further.

  • Can I associate multiple Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect boxes on my account?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, you can associate as many boxes as you want on your account, within the same home or in different homes.

  • Are there repeaters to amplify the signal of the Enki Connect / Essentiel b box?
Flèche Enki.png No, but note that Zigbee is a mesh protocol that extends the range for powered connected products (battery-powered devices do not repeat the signal). However, if needed, you can associate multiple Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect boxes on your account to use them as repeaters in your installation. Devices will be associated with the different boxes connected to your account.

  • Can I connect my Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box to a Wi-Fi repeater?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, this is possible. But it is not recommended because Wi-Fi repeaters can sometimes have unstable connections. Moreover, it is very important that the SSID of your Wi-Fi repeater is different from that of the internet box. If the SSID is the same, it can cause frequent and random disconnections because the Enki Connect / Essentiel b Connect box could switch between connection points A (internet box) and B (repeater), and vice versa.

  • The Enki app asks for access to location services; should I allow it?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, it is very important to enable location services so the app can properly detect networks around you.

iOS - Activer le service de connexion local.gif
    • On my iPhone, should I enable local network access in my iPhone settings?
Flèche Enki.png Yes, local network access settings must be enabled, as this setting allows the phone to communicate via Wi-Fi with another device. Without this setting enabled, the phone cannot exchange information with the Wi-Fi device when connected to it.
