How does the integration of my connected heating receivers with pilot wire work in a schedule? (Time integration method)

Summary:

This article guides you step by step through creating an effective heating automation schedule for your home 🏠 using a time integration method. A concrete example—neither too simple nor too complex—will help you easily understand and apply these principles.

Reminder:

This article complements the one about how the connected radiator works in the "Heating" menu. If you have not read it yet, click the link above to discover all the features of the Heating menu. ☝️

The schedule organizes the operation of all the heating devices in your home 🏠, not just one radiator or one room. It applies to your entire home 🏠 to ensure overall thermal comfort.

When creating the schedule, think about your entire home 🏠, not an isolated zone.

This tutorial guides you in effectively scheduling your heating according to your needs.

You can then define a customized schedule that ensures thermal comfort while optimizing energy consumption.

Schedule creation example:

Before creating your schedule in the app, it is essential to review your home's configuration and first establish the schedule on paper. Click the desired section below to display the explanations, which are provided as an example.

Our home

Our home:

Maison Enki - 3 pièces.png

Here is our home 🏠. It consists of three rooms equipped with heaters. The home 🏠 is organized as follows:

Flèche Enki 20px.png P1: Living room.

Flèche Enki 20px.png P2: Bathroom.

Flèche Enki 20px.png P3: Bedroom.

We therefore have three radiators to integrate into the schedule.

How do you create a schedule 📅 for the three heating systems?

We will use the “time integration” method 🕰️ for a precise and detailed 7-day schedule, with each day divided into 24 hours.

You will need to determine the status of the heating devices at each moment, particularly at midnight, and then note the times when these statuses change.

It is crucial to clearly define your heating schedules to optimize their efficiency and ensure suitable comfort.

Here, the schedules from Monday through Friday are identical, reflecting a work routine, while the weekend schedules differ to accommodate specific habits.

During the week, the heating is reduced while people are away at work, but on the weekend, it is programmed for optimal comfort at home.

What temperatures 🌡️ are recommended in a home?

The recommended temperatures 🌡️ in a home are as follows:

  • For a living area: 20.0°C

  • For a bedroom: 18.0°C

  • For a bathroom: 23.0°C

When a room is unoccupied for an extended period, it is recommended to reduce the temperature 🌡️ by 2 to 3 degrees to avoid unnecessary heating.

Temperatures are preset on the heater through its interface, according to the different modes.

How to create a schedule on paper: Time integration method

Establishing a schedule for the heating devices on paper:

First, you need to know the status of each radiator at midnight, then note each time when the status of one of the heating devices changes (on, off, temperature change) throughout the day. This produces a precise schedule for radiator operation in the home 🏠.

Monday through Friday:

At midnight, only the bedroom is heated for optimal comfort. The other radiators are set to a low temperature. The status is therefore as follows:

Maison Enki - 3 pièces - Chauffe chambre.png

Our schedule starts as follows:

What you need to know about schedules:

How many setpoint changes are allowed per day?

Flèche Enki 20px.png You can integrate up to 20 time slots per day.

09 - Comment fonctionne un planning individuel - Message d'erreur - Nombre de plage supérieur à 20.png

When editing your schedule, you can exceed 20 time slots, but when saving, an error message appears:

  • "At least one day in your schedule exceeds the limit of 20 time slots"

You must therefore reduce the number to a maximum of 20 time slots per day in order to save.

How do I delete a schedule?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Delete it from its edit screen.

01 - In the Heating menu, click the settings "" in the upper-right corner.

02 - Select the schedule to delete.

03 - Scroll down, click "Delete" and confirm again by clicking "Delete".

The schedule will be deleted and you will return to the modes and schedules.

44 - Planning par intégration horaire FP - Supprimer un planning.gif

An active schedule cannot be deleted. The following message is displayed:

  • “You cannot delete this schedule because it is currently running.”

To delete it, switch to another schedule or move it to another mode.

45 - Planning par intégration horaire FP - Supprimer un planning (Erreur).GIF
Can I give multiple schedules the same name?

Flèche Enki 20px.png No, each schedule must have a unique name.

What temperatures are recommended?

Flèche Enki 20px.png In a home:
      - Living room: 20.0 °C
      - Bedroom: 18.0 °C
      - Bathroom: 23.0 °C
It is recommended to lower the temperature by 2 to 3 °C in an unoccupied room.

Why can't the “Default” schedule be deleted?

Flèche Enki 20px.png A schedule is required. “Default” cannot be deleted or renamed, but its times and setpoints can be modified.

How can I tell if my device is following a schedule?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Use the following methods:

N2 - Objet - Mode planning FP.png
Consigne chauffage FP dans le menu chauffauge (Planning).gif

From your device's control page:

Check the control type and make sure schedule mode is enabled.

Through the heating menu:

Check the status of your devices: schedule, manual, frost protection, off, or individual.

Can I add a schedule to my favorites ?

Flèche Enki 20px.png No, schedules do not have a favorites system.

Are new heaters added to the schedule?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Yes, they are present but disabled by default in all available modes. For each mode, enable them and configure their setpoint.

Can I create multiple away modes with different temperatures?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Yes. Each mode must have a different name and can use a different temperature.

Why doesn't my radiator turn off?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Some heaters cannot be completely turned off. They then switch to the minimum temperature or frost protection mode.

How long does schedule synchronization take for heaters with built-in schedule capabilities?

Flèche Enki 20px.png It can take up to 15 minutes depending on the number of modes and devices involved. The more complex the schedule, the longer synchronization takes.

Can I copy a day's configuration to another schedule?

Flèche Enki 20px.png No. You must recreate it manually in the other schedule.

How do I change schedules?

Flèche Enki 20px.png In the schedule control type, tap "⁝" on the “Current schedule” tile, then tap “Change schedule.” Select the desired schedule, then tap "✓"  in the upper-right corner (iOS) or "Save" at the bottom of the screen (Android).

Why does one of my radiators, configured to remain under individual control, automatically switch to “At home” control mode and follow the collective schedule's setpoints instead of its individual schedule?

Flèche Enki 20px.png Even if its control type is set to “Individual control,” if it is included in one of the modes, it will automatically switch to “At home” control mode when that mode is applied. Please check that your heating device, which should be individually controlled, is excluded from all existing modes. When it is excluded, its slider appears gray in the relevant mode.
